Upper Village Neighbourhood Real Estate
Upper Village is a small enclave, residential and business community, that adjoins Forest Hill and Cedarvale neighbourhoods along Eglinton Avenue West between Allen Road and Bathurst Street. It is most notably associated with Upper Forest Hill Neighbourhood.
The roots of Upper Village began around the 1860’s, however, incorporation as a village did not happen until 1923. Its neighbour, Forest Hill, was one of the last independent villages to be annexed in 1967.
For those who love the look of the affluent homes of Forest Hill, but cannot afford the substantial prices, houses near Upper Village may be a more suitable match. Most of the homes in the neighbourhood date back to the 1940’s and 50’s and are modest versions of the houses in Lower Forest Hill Village. However, there is no compromise on lot sizes, which are comparable with lot sizes in Forest Hill. Many homes are spacious and comfortable for families, and there are also a few smaller homes for the first time home buyer. For those seeking condominium or apartment life, Upper Village has a few condominium dwellings to choose from.
There are a variety of shopping for Upper Village residents along the Eglinton Avenue West street. Quaint shops, restaurants, boutiques, bakeries, several drug stores, gives this neighbourhood easy access to most day to day needs and wants. There are a wide variety of restaurants, clothing, antique, jewelry, independent grocery stores, as well as an art gallery, beauty spa and other shopping stores available along Eglinton Avenue West. For those looking for relaxing recreation opportunities within Upper Village, the Forest Hill Tennis Club is located near the corner of Bathurst and Eglinton Avenue West. A small, family friendly park called Ben Nobleman is right across the street from Eglinton West subway station.
This neighbourhood is a prime transportation hotspot, as Eglinton West subway station is located just down the street. This subway line connects to the Yonge-University Spadina subway line, as well as a multitude of buses that connect residents to all different areas of Toronto. For residents who prefer to move about the city by car, the Allen Road will give you quick access to highway 401.
